2010 was a very challenging year in the vineyards. The 2009-2010 winter was wet and the late spings were welcome, helping for refill the reservoirs. The summer was the coolest on record for many decades and then a significant warm spike in late August cause a lot of berry shriveling in many vineyards. The new sortting equipment in our new winery paid HUGE dividends permitting to carefully sort out all of the "sunburned and shriveled" fruit. It took additional time and cost, but we are confident tha this may be one of the great vintages from the Napa Valley. The grapes were picked on October 20th. They were cold soaked for 4 days, fermented and left on the skins for a total of 30 days. The wine was pressed on November 19th and was put into 100% new French Oak barrels.
