The grapes for this wine come primarily from our Lake Cynthia Vineyard on the Silverado Bench in the southern part of the Napa Valley. They were hand picked between September 11, 2008 (Merlot) and October 8, 2008 (Cabernet Sauvignon) and fermented in small lots with extended maceration. Total "time on the skins" averaged 28 days to achieve maximum extraction, flavor and color stability. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels (60% new and predominantely French) for 25 months prior to bottling. It will be aged an additional 11 months in the bottle prior to release.
