The grapes for this wine come primarily from our Lake Cynthia Vineyard on the Silverado Bench in the southern part of the Napa Valley. They were hand picked between September 24, 2006 (Merlot) and October 25, 2006 (Cabernet Sauvignon) and fermented in small lots with extended maceration.  Total "time on the skins" was a lengthy about 40 days to achieve maximum extraction, flavor and color stability. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels (50% new - 50% once used) for approximately twenty-nine months prior to blending.  It was aged an additional 7 months in the bottle prior to release.

Medium Purple. A nose that is powerful with pepper, blackberries, cherry, floral and spices. There is a gravel note on the palate and a medium finish. A wine at 15.2% alcohol that does not show any heat on the nose or the palate. Well balanced and drinking really well right now. I was amazed how subtle the oak was for being aged 29 months. 93 pts.
